30 years of Bakehouse Art Complex (BAC)
The BAC is a nonprofit educational institution, a space for artistic creativity in South Florida, located in the building of a former bakery, now adapted for the benefit of the artistic community.
The site is open seven days a week. BAC is a free, unique and attractive place to experience contemporary art in progress. Unlike museums or galleries, here visitors can find a different vision in the creative world of our culturally diverse community, with more than 60 contemporary artists of 16 different nationalities. They work on every possible form of art.
Every second Friday of the month, there is a collective exhibition with different artists in the complex, an opportunity to exchange talent among the artists of BAC and external guests.
The BAC now has 65 studios, two galleries, a projection room, classrooms, printing room, photo lab, pottery kiln, metal and wood work areas, and a vast extent of 2.3 acres that allow artists to discover, experience, mix or integrate new means of expression in its spaces.
The BAC also invites local nonresident artists and members of the public to join this creative community. It offers a variety of programs such as workshops, exhibitions, open studies, educational and cultural programs. The Bakehouse is a treasure for the contemporary world, a meeting place that culturally enriches the Visual Arts.
Congratulations to Bibi Baloyra Executive Director, and Yuneikys (Yuni) Villalonga Associate Director of Exhibitions and Education for their extraordinary work; and also to all the artists and creative members that have been in these spaces over the last 30 years.
